Coon Rapids volleyball coach Heidi Ulwelling will be inducted into the Minnesota State University Athletics Hall of Fame, Oct. 8.
A four-year letterwinner during her career (1991-94), she became the first player in school history to record 3,000 career assists and still ranks seconds on the school's all-time list (3,963). As a sophomore, in 1992, she set a school record, since broken, with 1,210 assists and set the school's single-match record, which still stands, of 82 assists in a match with North Dakota State.
As a senior, not only did Ulwelling lead the Mavericks in assists (1,142) for a fourth consecutive season, she also led the team in hitting percentage (.266) and digs (358).
During her career, she helped three different players earn All-North Central Conference honors as hitters and was also an all-conference selection herself.
